How To Create A Menu Of Recent Apps In The Dock

After the release of Yosemite  back with our weekly section devoted to OS X and its hidden features. This time we will show you how to add a menu of recent apps in the Dock , so this does not have to be going to the Launchpad constantly and can more easily open applications that we use in OS X .

How To Create A Menu Of Recent Apps In The Dock

The steps below will indicate previously been tested by us. We recommend that you follow the instructions as listed below for the trick to work properly.

First, open the  Terminal  in  OS X  (found looking at  Spotlight ).

Once you have opened the  Terminal , copy and paste the code below:

defaults write -array persistent-apps-add ‘{“tile-data” = {“list-type” = 1; }; “Tile-type” = “recents-tile”; } ‘; killall Dock; killall Dock

Press Enter and go. You will see that in the Dock get a menu with the most used apps. If you prefer, you can change your settings to show you the most recent documents or other things. To do this you only have to press the right mouse button on the menu and choose the option that most interests you.


How To Remove Recent Apps From The Dock Menu

If for some reason you want to remove the menu you just created, pick the menu icon and drag it off the Dock until you receive the option Delete . When you leave this label fails to click and go, the menu will disappear.
